Women empowerment has become the new buzzword in today’s society, we see women speaking up about sexual assault, we see more women working alongside men, we even see women in higher positions in the work place. In a recent article Women Empowerment: Winds of Change,   we see just how strong women have become. Now Aurora University wants to show their strong women off too.
ARISE stands for, awareness, respect, dignity, sisterhood, and empowerment. The purpose of this group on campus is to spread awareness and empower young women who emulate a higher standard of themselves. The goal of the organization is, bring forth the strong women on campus and encourage coming together as one. ARISE has held many events on Aurora University campus especially their banquet that takes place every semester where many women on campus dress to impress and enjoy being in the company of other strong women.
Aria Mines who spoke out about her role on ARISE as the president, her passion for this organization and, the importance of this event on campus. “Being a part of ARISE was based on my own personal interest in the group, I wanted to be a part of something that helped others. ARISE is a sisterhood organization that promotes women empowerment and just self-love to women on campus and in the Aurora community.” Said Mines. ARISE is about building bonds between women in a world where it is common to see hate and where it is instilled in young women to see their female counterparts as competition. Her main goal as president and the future for ARISE, “Being a role model is what I love most about what we do! I would say my main goal right now is growth. It is important for me to see people learning things from our general board meetings, things that they can remember for the rest of their lives, things that make young women grow as an individual.”
With such a different event like this, this is a fun and interactive way for women on campus to come together and really strive for greatness as one. When women come together the possibilities are endless. Mines elaborates on her excitement for this event, “I believe this event will show women on campus that we can come together and so incredible life changing things all it takes is loving, supporting, and encouraging one another.”
